Adventures in Overglazing

I ordered 6 of Karen Gerhardt's new 6 x 6 Arabian horse head tiles and have been trying different china painting techniques on them. The first one I did was a leopard Appaloosa and then I did a dappled roan bay. On these two pieces I used Amaco prefab china paints but on the advice of other china painters I have ordered some powdered paints. This way I can formulate my own china paints using a mill grinder and carrier. I really enjoy china painting and, being a chemist, the idea of doing some of my own compounding just adds to the fun.
I'm also working on a running foal in china paints for a client. I hope to have some in progress photos soon!
