It's been an interesting week. After voting on Tuesday (and I wasn't particularly happy with any of the choices) I have sat back and watched the fall-out.
I'm not the sort that fits neatly into any party's membership and I usually classify myself as an independent. And yes, I voted for Perot the first time around LOL.
I actually found myself really annoyed that none of the candidates (Democratic, Republican, or Libertarian) were men that I could really back even half-heartedly. I first voted in the 1976 presidential election and every election thereafter I have voted in as I feel it is my duty as a citizen of this country and the daughter and wife of a veteran. But this time around it was difficult to make a choice as I felt that whatever the party platform was, the candidate wasn't necessarily going to give it anything but lip service.
So what do you do? I've heard some folks say, post-election, that "Obama is not MY president" and I think that is sad. He is our president-elect, and as such I think he deserves our support. If he makes a mess of it, then in 2012 we choose someone else. But if you are a citizen of this great country, he is your president, whether you voted for him or not. For me, it doesn't matter who I voted for, we have a new president-elect and for the good of the country we need to accept that and move forward. And work on a local level to change things that we can. And remember that whomever our leader, we are blessed to live in the USA.
