Art update: fun with clay, china painting, and warm glass!

One of the lovely things about teaching is that you get summers off and a nice Christmas break too. I've decided to use part of my break to finish my SR for Lakeshore, prep for the fused glass jewelry course I'm going to teach, and finish my entries for The Best of Texas Clay juried art show coming up.

The pieces I'm doing, assuming I get them finished, will be a slab piece, a wheel-thrown piece, and an original sculpture. The slab piece I'm making I will also use to slump some fused glass plates on. It will be my interpretation of the scene in the first LOTR movie where horses appear in the foam of the river rapids. My original sculpture will be either feline or murine, not sure which yet, but I'm sure the clay will tell me LOL. And who knows what the wheel will dictate to me!

I will be taking photos of the progress of the pieces and posting them here. The piece in the picture above is one I did a few years ago, when I was experimenting with glazes.
