I'm lucky in that the area I live in (Hunt County Texas) has several family farms that are certified organic. Even though some items can be a bit more expensive, I support the organic family farmers/ranchers with my food dollar. The foods are so much better tasting, with less waste, and by purchasing organic, I'm not contributing to the organophosphate pesticide runoff. I'm also helping to sustain family farming, which is very important to me.
My first introduction to organic milk was from Amish markets in PA and MD. Their grassfed Jersey creamline milk was a wonderful yellow color and the taste was marvelous. Even though I can't find a similar product in TX I continue to buy organic homogenized milk and dairy products.
