This past week I spent in professional development for the start of school on Monday http://www.thefultonschool.org/ . So no artwork to report on. However it was very exciting to meet the new art teacher as she is very much into the fired arts and has several high fire kilns! I can't wait to work with her on developing cross-curriculum ideas between art and science. One of the great joys of teaching is learning from other teachers AND your students! It's also one of the reasons I love teaching at a private school. None of the silliness that crops up in some public school districts like that of the DISD (Dallas) http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/DN-DISDgrades_15met.ART.State.Edition2.4d95d34.html . I was lucky to have taught in a wonderful public high school when I started my second career as a teacher back in 1997 at the Red Oak ISD http://www.redoakisd.org/ where I also got to work side by side with my late father, Luther Paul Martin. Then when I moved to the DC area I taught at a wonderful Catholic high school http://www.pallottihs.org/ . Having the support of parents and administration makes a world of difference in a teacher's ability to teach. Our school also has a six-man football team this year so I'm really looking forward to that. Go Fulton Falcons! And thankfully, it rained yesterday and more is in the forecast so that's good news for my art and pastures. The heat wave here in Texas may have finally broken so I hope to be able to use my kiln again soon.In the meantime, I do have a link to a great video of a mini-appaloosa doing some lovely dressage work and which is where the photo above is from. Enjoy! Cherylhttp://www.dressur-design.de/inhalte/texte/english/horses/lancelot.php
