Ugh. Just finally got finished doing the laundry and unpacking from the whirlwind trip to BF! It was a lot of fun. Did some shopping, manned the RESS booth at the AG, got to catch up with some old friends, and make some new ones!
This was my first trip to BF and I must say I was feeling overwhelmed from the get go LOL. Silly me didn't realize that the HIN didn't have an elevator and I had a TON of stuff to schlep up to our room on the second floor. I also now understand how people get lost in that maze. Yikes! Thankfully I had a travel buddy with me, Cindy Rucker, and she has very good knees. She lugged most of the stuff upstairs for us both when we arrived Wed evening.
We got settled and collapsed, having driven all day to get to KY from TX. Next day we did some recon and found out what was where. We set up our booth in the Artisan's Gallery and from there it was nonstop activity. We did make it over to the KHP (Cindy had never been) and I got to see the trainers I had bought my show gelding from (Char-O-Lot Ranch) as she was showing the appy, DZ Weedo, there. And I caught a glimpse of Alborozo. He is a lovely horse and the Breyer show edition is equally lovely. The palomino version at the Breyer auction was well received, selling for $13, 500! (no, that's not a typo). http://www.breyerhorses.com/blog/
I did some shopping, picking up a couple of Kristina Lucas Francis' bisque Liberty and Mare/Foal pins, a couple of buckets of slip from Marge Para, an OF appy Matrix from Lisa Bickford, and then my holy grail, a CG Spinnaker by Lesli Kathman! I also had a great time chatting with Marge, Denise Gimmaro, and Jennifer Pomerance about firing, throwing pottery, and casting bas relief medallions. I also was seated across from Danielle Feldman at the AG and got to watch all her new art DVDs. I highly recommend them!
The trip back was uneventful. We had hoped to stop off at a freshwater pearl museum in TN but decided it was a bit too far afield and we'd do that next time. So we made it back home Sunday evening. And that is about it! Time to catch up on all the RESS reports, get ready for back to school, and do some cold painting as it's too hot to fire the kiln right now.
